Iris Pena Galaviz Intern Therapist

Hi, I am Iris Pena Galaviz!

I am an intern at Fearlessly Authentic Psychology and I am currently completing my master’s degree in counseling at Colorado Christian University. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Applied Psychology with a specialization in clinical counseling.

My Story

My name is Iris Pena Galaviz. I am an intern at Fearlessly Authentic Psychology and a master’s-level graduate student at Colorado Christian University. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Applied Psychology with a specialization in clinical counseling. I am bilingual in Spanish and English and have a strong passion for working with underserved communities and increasing mental health awareness within Spanish-speaking populations.

The counseling approaches I most identify with are Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy; however, I enjoy learning about other therapeutic approaches as well. I believe counseling should be tailored to each individual’s unique needs. I enjoy working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and across different age groups. Currently, I prefer individual counseling but hope to expand my training in couples counseling approaches to offer that service in the near future. I strive to create a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel safe to show up exactly as they are. I believe healing happens through authentic connection, collaboration, and compassion, and I walk alongside my clients at a pace that feels right for them. Whether you are navigating life transitions, emotional challenges, or seeking personal growth, my goal is to help you feel heard, understood, and empowered as you move toward meaningful and lasting change. You do not have to do this alone—I would be honored to support you on your journey.

Personal Life

I am 33 years old. I was born in Mexico but have been living in Colorado since I was 6.5 years old. I am married and have three beautiful children. I love scenery and the outdoors; therefore, one of my favorite hobbies is exploring different trails around Colorado with my family. I have a strong passion for arts and crafts, including drawing, painting, and reading children’s books.

Holding onto my Mexican culture and roots is very important to me, my family enjoys attending traditional Mexican family gatherings and my husband and I enjoy Mexican dance clubs on date nights. One of my favorite aspects of my personality is enjoying fun physical activities, whether it is going for a run or playing children’s games such as tag, hide-and-seek, obstacle courses, or even playing on the playground with my kids and husband. On the other hand, I also enjoy relaxing movie nights.

Finally, I enjoy all seasons and exploring different activities each season has to offer, but my favorite time of the year is the holiday season. I love seeing all the Christmas lights, indulging in food, and partaking in all our traditions.

The Mission of the Practice

Our mission is to promote the practice of living authentically by empowering clinicians to create individualized treatment plans that foster a growth-oriented mindset. We believe that therapy should never be one-size-fits-all; each person’s story, strengths, and struggles are unique, and their care should reflect that.

Founded by Dr. Kimberly Garrison, Fearlessly Authentic Psychology was built on the belief that people deserve more than symptom checklists and quick fixes; they deserve to be truly seen, supported, and challenged in ways that honor who they are. As Clinical Director, Dr. Garrison models this work by combining deep clinical expertise with a direct, compassionate style, and by mentoring clinicians to do the same.

At Fearlessly Authentic Psychology, we support clinicians in using evidence-based tools, deep self-awareness, and genuine connection to help clients move toward lives that feel more aligned with who they truly are. This means honoring each person’s values, identities, and lived experiences while also challenging the patterns that keep them stuck. We strive to create a professional home where therapists feel supported, resourced, and encouraged to grow; because when clinicians thrive, clients benefit.

We believe that everyone has the potential to live a fulfilling, meaningful life, and we are committed to providing the tools, guidance, and community necessary to make that a reality. Join us, and Dr. Garrison, in our mission to live authentically, cultivate resilience, and embrace personal growth; for ourselves, our clients, and the communities we serve.
