Frequently Asked Questions

We proudly serve many clients who use Medicaid and remain committed to making trauma-informed therapy more accessible to the wider Colorado community. Medicaid benefits and authorization requirements can be more specific than commercial insurance, so we may request a few extra details when you contact us. If you have Medicaid, we can help you:

  • Confirm eligibility and coverage details

  • Understand whether a referral or prior authorization is needed

  • Match you with a clinician based on availability, specialty, and whether you prefer in-person or telehealth

Even when a plan is accepted, your out-of-pocket cost depends on your personal benefits. Common factors include:

  • Copays or coinsurance

  • Deductibles (and whether your deductible has been met)

  • Session limits or visit caps

  • Referral requirements (some plans, including certain Kaiser plans, may require specific steps)

If you are using out-of-network benefits, we can often provide documentation or a superbill when appropriate. We can also discuss private pay options if that is a better fit for your needs and preferences. If you need more insurance information, please contact us.

If you plan to use insurance, a quick benefits check can prevent surprises and help you feel more confident before your first session. When you call the number on the back of your insurance card (or log into your member portal), ask these questions:

  • Am I in-network with Fearlessly Authentic Psychology and Dr. Kimberly Garrison (Dr. Garrison is the owner of the insurance contracts)?

  • What is my copay or coinsurance for outpatient mental health therapy?

  • Do I have a deductible, and has it been met for the year?

  • Is prior authorization required for therapy sessions?

  • Are there limits on the number of sessions per year?

  • Does my plan cover telehealth therapy in Colorado?

If you’d like, you can send us your insurance provider and member ID details (as appropriate), and we can help you understand what insurance information is needed to confirm so starting therapy feels as smooth as possible.
